Guests are invited to the evening performance-vision “A Midsummer Night's Dream” (based on the play by W. Shakespeare) in the House-Museum of V.V. Veresayev. The event is dedicated to the Year of Theater and the 455th anniversary of the English playwright and poet William Shakespeare.
From “Records for myself” of V.V. Veresayev: “It was a crazy night. The night on the eve of the summer solstice. The king of the elves Oberon quarreled with his wife Titania. He ordered the mischievous elf Pook to find a flower with the strange name “Love in idleness,” waylay Titania in a forest when she fell asleep and squeeze the flower juice in her eyes. This juice has the following property: a man blindly falls in love with the first woman he sees when waking up and a woman falls in love with the first man she sees. … For a long time, mischievous elf Pook flies through forests and squeezes the juice of the magical flower in people’s eyes. And people no longer see with sober eyes. They see wisdom and genius on a sloping forehead with donkey ears. They see a deep sincerity in a false female smile, an unprecedented beauty in an ordinary appearance. This is all created by human blood hotly boiling under the spell of the magical flower ...” V.V. Veresayev was not only a famous prose writer but also a literary critic. He philosophically analyzes W. Shakespeare’s play “A Midsummer Night's Dream” in his work “Records for myself”. This served as a creative stimulus for theatrical reinterpretation of the great playwright by Tula College of Culture students and Arts who created an one-hour performance based on this work.
The event will take place on the territory of estate of Smidovich which is so good on a summer evening: with ascent of blooming roses, chirping of birds and kingdom of greenery! The action of the performance filled with fairy tale and magic will be unfolded in this charming atmosphere. There will be a flying elf and unexpected love. However, we will not reveal all the secrets! Come to see everything with your own eyes!
