The cultural heritage site of regional significance "Governor's House", located at 52 Svobody St., Tula. The building;
52 Svobody Street, which is known as the "Governor's House", was built in the 1860s. According to information from open sources, until 1893, the headquarters and office of the 6th Grenadier Tauride Regiment, whose history has been known since 1756, were located here.
It became the governor's house in 1893, when Vladimir Karlovich Schlippe, appointed head of the Tula province, moved into the building.
In 1905, he was replaced by M.M. Osorgin, then the governors changed quite often until 1917, when the last tsarist mayor, A.N. Troinitsky, as well as the vice–governor and the head of the gendarmerie department, were arrested in this house on the night of March 2 to 3, 1917.
After the revolution, the Military Revolutionary Committee met in the former governor's House, which carried out practical measures to combat supporters of the autocracy and the Provisional Government in Tula.
In the 1920s, the Tula provincial military Enlistment Office was located in the building.
Since 1946, the building has housed the directorate of the 38th Guards Vienna Airborne Corps, as well as the directorate of the 106th Guards Airborne Red Banner Order of Kutuzov Division.
After the corps was disbanded in 1955, the division's office continued to be located in the house until 2011.
