Aleksinsky Museum of Local Lore Municipal Budgetary cultural institution of the Tula region

The Aleksinsky Museum of Local Lore was founded in 1974, and the museum received its first visitors in December 1980. The museum is located in the historical part of the city in a three-storey mansion of the former city estate of merchants of the 1st guild of the Maslovs, an architectural monument of the era of mature classicism. Since 1995, the museum building has been included in the list of objects of historical and cultural heritage of federal significance.
There are more than 22 thousand storage units of the main and scientific and auxiliary funds in the AHCM funds. The museum has archaeological, geological, numismatic, paleontological collections; a collection of paintings, graphics, sculptures, decorative and applied arts, ethnographic and household items; memorial collections dedicated to the outstanding countrymen Bobrishchev-Pushkin, Lvov, Stechkin, Shchedrin, General G.P. Korotkov, ethnographer S.A. Tokarev, writer Zoya Voskresenskaya and others.
The museum's exposition consists of 13 stationary halls and 5 halls for rotating exhibitions.
The exposition of the Department of Nature introduces the paleontological past, geological structure, minerals, water resources, flora and fauna of the Aleksinsky district.
In the history department, in the section devoted to the archaeological past of the region, objects of labor and everyday life of people who inhabited the territory of the Aleksinsky district in the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages are exhibited, exhibits reflecting the life and way of life of the ancient Slavic Vyatichi tribe are presented. A separate section is devoted to the history of Aleksin in the 14th and 17th centuries, when he played a crucial role in protecting the borders of the Moscow state.
On the second floor there are expositions telling about Aleksin of the 18th and early 20th centuries. like a merchant's town.
The Department of Modern History reflects the economic and cultural life of the city during the Soviet period. The section "Aleksin during the Great Patriotic War" tells about the exploits of the Aleksin people during the Great Patriotic War and the events in the city and district in November-December 1941, when Aleksin was occupied by Nazi troops.
In the halls, which have preserved their architectural decoration, the interior of the ceremonial merchant bedrooms and living rooms has been recreated, which present the life and customs of the rich provincial merchants.
The museum's art collection is based on the works of Aleksinsky artists. Since the beginning of the 90s of the 20th century, thanks to cooperation with the ROSIZO Museum and Exhibition Center, the museum's collection has been replenished with paintings, graphics, sculptures, and decorative and applied works by modern authors.
The Museum and Exhibition Department exhibits works not only by local artists whose lives and work are connected with the Aleksinsky region, but also by famous contemporary Tula, Kaluga and Moscow masters of painting: G. Dolenjashvili, E. Bernstein, V. Konev, Y. Novikov, I. Shcherbino, V.Gerasimov and others.
Since 2007, the Aleksinsky Museum has been hosting the "Postal History Museum", the only one in the Tula region. Its exhibitions tell about the evolution of postal communication from medieval messengers to modern means of communication, about the history of writing, stamps, mailboxes and postmarks. The Department of museum pedagogy works with different age groups.
In addition to active (more than 50 exhibitions annually) exposition and exhibition activities, the museum conducts extensive cultural and educational work. Every year, the museum hosts literary, poetic and musical evenings, theatrical performances, creative contests, educational quizzes, folklore festivals, exhibition presentations, scientific events, veterans' meetings and other events.
All the activities of the staff of the Aleksinsky Museum of Local Lore are aimed at achieving the love and appreciation of the urban community for the museum as a cultural, communication and educational center of the city.
