Kimovsky Museum of Local Lore named after V.A. Yudin

The Kimovsky Museum of Local Lore was opened in 2004 and, despite its young age, enjoys the love and respect of Kimov residents, residents and guests of the district, the number of which, we hope, will grow. Who doesn't visit our museum: schoolchildren, kindergarten students, young people and adults. The museum staff takes an active part in holding city and interregional holidays and celebrations, cooperates with the museums of the region and the district, conducts walking tours, hours of knowledge and local history, meetings with interesting people and museum lessons.
In 2012, the museum was named after V.A. Yudin. Vladimir Alekseevich Yudin is a descendant of Epiphany merchants, a local historian with 62 years of experience, a photographer, a landscape painter, a poet, the author of two editions of books about Kimovsk and Kimovchan, the author of many poetry collections of his own poems. The museum owes much of its creation to him: most of the exhibits in the museum are from his personal collection. The museum has a rare collection of cameras and paintings. A unique collection of archaeological finds was presented to the museum by amateur archaeologist A.V. Safonov. All the exhibits were found by expeditions of schoolchildren under his leadership in the village of Kovalevka, the village of Pron, at a coal mine in the Kimovsky district.
The museum has 5 halls: "Paleontology. Peasant hut", "Epiphany and Epiphany county", "Living memory (the period of the Great Patriotic War)", "The city of my youth (Kimovsk 50x-60x)", "Kimovsk - the city of miners" (mining history of the city). The museum is working on the implementation of various projects: The Memory Route (a tour of the Kimovsky district mass graves), The Museum Goes to School, City tours and Quests through public spaces, Museum lessons and interactive classes.
