The project is dedicated to a key moment in history — the era of industrialization, which defined the face of the 20th century. Machine tool construction here is becoming not just a technology, but a symbol of progress, social transformation and cultural change. Revealing the basic principles of machine tools and the period when machine labor became an integral part of human existence, we invite you to witness the historical moment that laid the foundation for progress. The main goal is to show the connection of machine tool construction with everyday life and the inevitability of changes during periods of bifurcation, when machine labor not only complements, but radically rethinks human existence.
The exhibition consists of three sections:
Section I: Boxes with details
The section is devoted to the decomposition of the usual image of the machine. Here you will see how a complete system breaks down into its component elements — nodes and mechanisms that are the foundation of modern production. From the 1M63F101 lathe, which took part in the implementation of the space program, to the pride of the Tula industry, the Dzerzhinets machine, these details demonstrate not only the triumph of engineering, but also the virtuosity of domestic designers. Like the archetypal elements of any structure, these mechanisms are the key figures of machine tool construction, without which the functionality of a full-fledged device is impossible. It is these essential components that have become the basis not only for the machine itself, but also for the entire era of technical achievements.
Section II: Boxes with mockups and product examples
Large industrial enterprises are symbols of the Soviet era, demonstrating how machine tools shaped economic and social reality. Here you can find evidence of the daily life of the workers: production artifacts, photographs and archival documents. This section shows how machine tools have become an important part of culture, forming a new type of person — the man of the industrial era.
These enterprises are not only important production centers, but also cultural landmarks of that time. They illustrate how industrialization changed not only the economy, but also social relations, creating new forms of work and life.
Section III: The Zone of experience
The "Zone of Experience" section offers interaction with the industrial heritage, blurring the boundaries between the viewer and the exhibit. The space immerses in an atmosphere where the reality of the factory is reproduced through tactile sensations, sounds and smells.
In the center of this area is a machine that you can interact with. The layout of the 16T02A rotary and screw cutting machine can and should be touched with your hands. It is designed to work in small workshops and work rooms. It has been widely used in industry, including mechanical engineering and metalworking, due to its reliability, simplicity of construction and versatility.
Come to the "Business of Technology" and experience with your own eyes and hands the full power of the country's industrial heritage.
