Why is the city awarded a hero title?
First of all, in honor of the feat of its inhabitants, who did not surrender to the mercy of the superior enemy forces.
The harsh days of the war made ordinary residents of Tula stand up to defend their city; they built barricades, worked in factories instead of evacuating, and fought with weapons in their hands together with the army.
