  • "The Museum-estate of Leo Tolstoy in the village of Nikolskoye-Vyazemskoye
The Tolstoy family estate. The history of the estate dates back to the second half of the 17th century. Leo Tolstoy's life was closely connected with Nikolsky—Vyazemsky. Lev Nikolaevich paid a lot of attention to the development of the economic life of this estate. He was engaged in planting forests and orchards, increased the area under crops, and bred thoroughbred cattle here.
Here, in Nikolsky, Leo Tolstoy worked on short stories, the novel "The Cossacks", the novel "War and Peace". Nikolsko-Vyazemskoye served as the prototype of the Rostov estate in the novel "War and Peace". The last time Leo Tolstoy was here was in 1910, four months before his departure from Yasnaya Polyana
  • I.S. Turgenev Museum-Reserve "Bezhin Meadow"
In a beautiful bend of the Snezhed River, the grandfather of the great writer Nikolai Alekseevich Turgenev laid out a large park, which was divided into six zones by pine and lime alleys, flower beds were laid out inside each block, fruit trees and shrubs were planted. The perimeter of the park is surrounded by pine and lime alleys, arranged in a strictly defined and thoughtful manner. From the west, the park was bordered by a lime alley, which adjoined the manor house. The eastern pine alley has bizarre curves forming natural gazebos. It turns steeply into the Sazhelka meadow, where the Sazhelka pond is still preserved. There is a manor spring well in the southeastern side of the park.
