What famous names do you associate Tula with? For sure, these are Tolstoy, Turgenev, Demidov – surnames and dynasties that we all learned from school days. But do you know about Rudnev, Khomyakov and Beloborodov, have you ever visited Bogucharovo or admired the monumentality of the Sretensky Temple? But all this is located very close to the regional capital – museums and estates are comfortably located in the shade of lime alleys, on the banks of the Oka River. We invite guests and residents of Tula to take a trip to the past – the era of imperial Russia and learn about the activities of its great minds.

Rudnev-Dvoryaninovo-Khomyakovo

At the beginning of the route, we will go to the museum, which is named after the commander of the cruiser Varyag Vsevolod Fedorovich Rudnev, a hereditary naval officer, a representative of an ancient noble family. Unique photographs and documents related to Rudnev's life and work, as well as the history of the fearless exploits performed by the commanders and crews of Russian ships, will help you plunge into the heroic past of our country's fleet.

Then we will visit the magnificent old estate of another of our countrymen, Andrei Timofeevich Bolotov "Dvoryaninovo". By visiting the updated exhibition, you will be able to learn about the everyday life of the average local nobility, as well as about the life of an amazing man, the creator of one of the first landscape parks in Russia, the distributor of various agricultural crops, the inventor of the first combination lock and the country's first children's theater.

The last point of the route will be acquaintance with the famous writer, public figure and one of the main ideologists of Slavophilism – Alexey Stepanovich Khomyakov. In Khomyakov's biography, the Tula period of his life and work occupies an important place, spent in the Bogucharovo family estate .

The manor complex offers each visitor its own unique view of the beauty of nature. Here you will admire the famous exquisite stucco and read excerpts from the Slavophile's works. The museum will also not leave any seeker of literary delights of the Russian soul indifferent. Three permanent exhibitions will introduce guests to the life and work of Alexei Stepanovich. The fireplace room of the museum is a kind of hall where the memory of the creative life of A.S. Khomyakov is kept, about his relationship with his contemporaries (L.N. Tolstoy, I.S. Turgenev, N.V. Gogol, A.S. Pushkin, etc.). Here they will tell in detail about the origin of Slavophilism and about rivalry with Westerners.
