Preobrazhenskaya Church of the Assumption Convent фото 1
Preobrazhenskaya church of the Assumption convent. It was built in 1842, according to the project of the provincial architect Vasily Fedoseevich Fedoseyev. The church was built on the site of a wooden dilapidated church known to the people as Nikola in the Square. Preobrazhensky temple is a vivid example of Russian classicism of the early 19th century in the provincial version. The forms of the temple are strict and almost symmetrical, in terms of structure the quadrangular, southern and northern facades of the building are decorated with Doric columns. Originally there were two entrances & ndash; for parishioners and for nuns. This is a two-storey temple: at the top there are the thrones in the name of the Transfiguration of the Lord, the icon of the Tikhvin Mother of God and St. Nicholas the Wonderworker; beneath - in honor of the icon of the Mother of God & Utolie My Sorrows & raquo ;, Archangel Michael and Martyr Barbara. The belltower adjoining the eastern facade was lost. Projects of houses in Moscow.
