Svyato-Kazansky female monastery
Svyato-Kazansky female monastery
The Svyato-Kazansky convent was founded in 2001 near the temple consecrated in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Blessed Virgin, built in the second half of the XIX century. Originally there were two wooden temples. There is no clear evidence when the first one was built. The other church of the Protection of the Blessed Virgin (“Pokrov”) was built in 1774 with the parishioners’ funds. That’s why the village was referred to as “Pokrovsko-Paporotskoye”. The Svyato-Kazansky convent in the village of Paporotka is a holy place, which attracts a lot of tourists and pilgrims. When you get into the temple, the feeling of amazing grace embraces you. There are many interesting and miraculous stories connected with this convent. The convent didn’t have a name for a long time and parishioners were deeply upset. But once, after long prayers and petitions of believers, on the day of veneration of the Kazan Icon of the Blessed Virgin, there was a bolt of thunder and a lightning struck the ground near the monastery. Miraculously, a spring appeared on the spot and many people have been healed of their ailments by its water.
