18 km from the village of Chern and 3 km from the Turgenev Family Estate, in the middle reaches of the Snezhed River, a meadow, which was described by I.S.Turgenev in the story "Bezhin Meadow" is located. There is a well on the meadow; people call it "The Forgiven." According to legend, its water has a healing property. Bezhin Meadow is also the venue for the annual interregional literary and song festival "Songs of Bezhin Meadow."
