Sredny Dubik Tract
Sredny Dubik Tract
The nature monument is located in the southeast of the Tula region in the forest-steppe zone, on the steep right slope of the valley of the Sredni Dubik River. The slope of southern exposure is cut by several beams, about 20% of the slope surface is occupied by landslides. Soils are leached chernozems. The main types of plant communities are meadow steppes of different composition, dominated by volga fescue, stipa capillata (or esparto grass) and others. They occupy 10 hectares (74%). The rest of the special protected natural area is occupied by a thinned pine plantation aged about 50 years. Undergrowth and underwood are absent. The lawn of the plantation is typically meadow. The overgrown with golden chain of some parts of the steppe slopes is also observed, it is connected with the absence of regular haymaking.
