The Slobodka sanatorium is located 25 km from the center of Tula and 165 km from Moscow, next to the M2 highway, and occupies an extensive territory of the former ancient manor house of A. S. Khomyakov with a total area of 56.2 hectares. The hilly terrain, the large picturesque park, the cascading system of ponds in the park, the surrounding mixed forests and fields create exceptionally favorable conditions for treatment and recreation. The climate is temperate continental. Summers are warm, winters are mild. The average temperature in July is +19 C0, in January – 10 C0. The number of hours of sunshine is 1,650 per year. The annual rainfall is about 650 mm.
Favorable climatic conditions, significant distance from industrial enterprises, an abundance of forests, reservoirs, and a beautiful landscape create good conditions for treatment and recreation. Warm summers and moderately cold winters make it possible to widely use climate therapy, metered walking, skiing, and excursions throughout the year.
