In the shade of trees and five-story buildings of the Proletarian district of Tula, at 10 Kutuzov Str., the P. N.Krylov Museum is nicely located. This place is dedicated to the very "Kry" of the world-famous Kukryniksy.
The Krylov Museum was created as some sort of interweaving of the art of the great artist and the works of modern masters because, in addition to the main exhibition, there are several rooms with an alternating one.
Porfiry Nikitich was an integral part of his Kukryniksy creative group. We may often see their wonderful posters in photos of the war years. Few people know that in addition to works for printing, the creative group was engaged in stunning paintings. The P.N.Krylov Museum keeps within its walls many works of his individual creativity. Portraits, book illustrations in graphics, landscapes; the great artist was multi-faceted. The Krylov Museum possesses a fund with more than 2,000 of his pieces of art.
The work of the famous artist clearly reflects his perception of the world. The details of his landscapes play with contrasting swirls; the light comes to life and one begins to feel its softness or sharpness!
The Krylov Museum also welcomes fans of masterclasses, plein-airs, and interactive programs. When Porfiry Nikitich was at the very top of his activity, he often came to the City of Masters and communicated with young talents and shared his skills with them. Nowadays, a variety of art classes are held here for children as well!
