The landmarks of Kimovsk are typical for a small mining town. The local history museum deals with the Soviet history of the town, the workers and heroes of the Great Patriotic War. The Monument to Miners can be found in the Labor Glory Square, and an interesting museum dedicated to the October Revolution is housed in the railway station building. The spirit of the Soviet period was preserved even in the name of the city. KIM means Communist Youth International, or Kommunistichesky International Molodyozhi in Russian.
The old water tower is an interesting landmark of Kimovsk. It is very similar to the Venetian Campanile of St. Mark’s Cathedral. What is unusual about it is that the tower was built back in the 1950s. Such a project does not correspond to the architectural canons of that time.
The sights of Kimovsky District will not leave anyone indifferent. Among them is a part of the Kulikovo Field, where the Nepryadva River flows into the Don. There is a monument to the Holy Noble Prince Dmitry Donskoy, and the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin was built in memory of the events that radically affected the history of Russia in 1380.
The village of Sebino is located not far from the Kulikovo Field. In this settlement, Matrona of Moscow, especially revered by the entire Orthodox world, was born and grew up. Pilgrimage tourist groups often come there. In Sebino, the Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos has been preserved, where the Saint spent her childhood and youth. In 2014, next to the church, the Matrona of Moscow Museum opened, where you can get to know the life of the Eldress.
