Tula Children's Railway

The Tula Children's Railway includes a closed narrow-gauge railway for trains that is 2 km 700 m long, a full-fledged complex of railway stations, a control room, locomotives, and trains! It serves two purposes:

  • entertaining: children and their parents who come to spend their free time in Novomoskovsk can easily take a ride by train;
  • education: Tula Children's Railway offers training courses in various fields for children who aspire to work with Russian Railways in the future.

The children who visit this place are usually delighted with this highly entertaining place where their peers control all the processes. The impressions children get there can inspire them to choose this noble profession.

The project has become the best of its kind in Russia. It started in 1953 as the head of Moskvaugol initiated the railroad construction. The railroad then received a locomotive and a depot, and the Ministry of Railways of the Soviet Union took hold of it. Before the reconstruction, it had rail transport vehicles from the Likhvinskaya narrow-gauge railway after the latter had been closed. However, in early 21st century, new diesel locomotives and cars were designed for the children's railway, and a large building was constructed for academic purposes.

The Tula Children's Railway invites all guests of Novomoskovsk to ride through the city central park for only 45-55 RUB, take some wonderful photos, visit the Berezki, Parkovaya and Istok Don stations, each having unique sights, and have some amazing experience.

We are located at: Novomoskovsk, Berezhnogo St., 1A. For inquiries and group tickets, please call +7 (48762) 3-96-50. Buy a ticket at Berezki station and enjoy a ride along the best children's railway in Russia.

This weekend we visited the children's railway. Children's songs are playing in the carriages, and cartoon pictures are on the walls. The train is traveling slowly, so the kids won't be afraid, there is a horn at each stop, which the children really like. The train is operated by schoolchildren in special railway clothes, i.e. you cannot confuse it with other children. All processes are supervised by adults. The journey time is from 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the choice of an express or passenger train. There are many different statues on the territory where you can take cool pictures, 3 different types of locomotives parked. A little further in, huge larches grow, the air is fresh and humid. Here, along a long pond, you can walk along the entire territory of the children's train, feed the ducks, of which there is a whole flock (there is even a vending machine for feeding them, the cost of a handful of food is 35 rubles). Children's attractions (from 2-3 to 12 years old), a trampoline and slides are installed on the territory. There is a card payment system for attractions, the card price is 50 rubles. There is nothing for teenagers, which is a bit frustrating, because there used to be an adult and children's rope park, an attraction with swans, etc. They also opened a small zoo where you can see domestic birds and some animals, peacocks, Emu ostrich, camel, raccoons, black and brown foxes, etc. Admission is free for children under 5 years old, 55 rubles for up to 14 years old, 70 rubles for adults. There is 1 mini cafe at the entrance; 1 outdoor cafe, although prices are high and the taste of ready meals is below average. There is a Pyaterochka store nearby. And of course, there are various souvenirs for children. Overall, the impression is good, there is a place to walk and relax.
