Monument to Gleb Uspensky

October 28, 2015 the solemn opening of the monument to writer Gleb Uspensky took place. The memorial is located in the block park opposite the house number 1 in Mendeleyevskaya street. In 1993 Tula authorities decided to perpetuate the memory of the famous citizen. The block park, located between Soviet St., Mendeleevsky St. and Chapaevsky avenue, was named after the writer. A foundation stone has already been installed there. Major repairs of the park were carried out in 2013. The works were carried out within the framework of the city program for the improvement of public spaces, implemented by the initiative of Evgeniya Avilov -the head of Tula administration. Zurab Tsereteli is the sculptor. It is worth saying that he not only refused to get the fee for his work, but paid all the expenses of manufacturing and transporting the monument.
